. Spanish Language Center Of Cuernavaca

.About Us

The Spanish Language Center of Cuernavaca is designed to provide its students with the ideal learning environment, which is conducive, it thinking, writing and speaking naturally in Spanish within the context of real-life situations. A functional program based on the natural approach to language skill and to discover the Mexican Culture as they experience life in Spanish speaking environment.

It is a fact that the best way to acquire a language is though total immersion, thus, the Spanish Language Center of Cuernavaca advises students to live where Spanish is spoken at all times.

This program is designed for independent students as well as for groups from universities, colleges, international corporations, government agencies, companies and professionals (doctors, nurses, lawyers, social workers, professors, teachers, clergymen, missionaries, flight attendants). Also it is for those travelers wanting to return home with more than just a souvenir, and there is a special program of individualized need for executives.

The SLCC intensive Spanish language study program meets the individual's need for fluency no matter what the vocational, professional, social recreational field. We also can tailor a program to a profession by emphasizing vocabulary in that particular subject and arranging field trips of a special interest. This is the way you learned to speak your native tongue. You were surrounded by it. You needed to communicate. You imitated what you heard. You may never have learned about grammar yet today you speak your language. At the SLCC language instruction is a bit more sophisticated. We "immerse" you, but we don't treat you as a child. We use a variety of teaching strategies, including the direct (communicative) and audio-lingual methods, practice in everyday conversations and role-playing.
.

.THE SETTING

The city of Cuernavaca is located in a pleasant valley about an hour and a half drive from Mexico City. This places the students within easy access of the cultural richness and excitement of the Mexican capital. Acapulco, Oaxaca, Puebla and Taxco are also easy to reach from Cuernavaca.

Cuernavaca has a population about 350,000 permanent resident. A University town and one of the Western Hemisphere's favorite vacation sports, its seasonal population can be nearly twice that number. Because of this year-round mild climate (average temperature 75°) and its lush and beautiful flora, Cuernavaca is known as the "City of Eternal Spring".
The atmosphere tends to be that of a big town, rather than a big city. The people are very friendly, and life is relaxed and easy going. Yet, the main square (Zócalo), surrounded by sidewalk cafés, restaurants, and bookstores is always alive. Street musicians (Mariachis) play, and the outdoor markets draw you back again and again
