As a valued Citibank customer, we would like to thank you for your support in the New York Smart Card Program. Launched on October 6, 1997, this pilot was the first major US smart card test in a sophisticated consumer market, and you were a valued participant. The program will come to an end on December 31, 1998. At that time, your local Upper West Side merchants will no longer accept Visa Cash as payment.

If you do not spend the cash value stored on your Citicard with a Money Chip, or Citibank Money Card, prior to December 31, 1998, you may unload it into your Citibank checking or savings account. If you need assistance, you may visit one of our Upper West Side branches and a Customer Service Representative will help you unload your card.

You can of course continue to use your Citicard as an ATM card after December 31, 1998. However, you should make arrangements to unload your chip balance no later than 6 months from the expiration date printed on the front of your Citicard with a Money Chip. If you have any questions, please contact us at 1-800-316-9972 and a Customer Service Representative will be happy to answer them.

We appreciate your interest and participation in the program, and look forward to continue serving you as a valued Citibank customer.
